Property firm hails work regarding Scotland House Brussels

- By EMMA NEWLANDS sreid@scotsman.com

A chartered surveyor and property specialist has completed an advisory project around the fit-out of Scotland House in Brussels.

Graham + Sibbald, which has 15 UK offices largely based in Scotland, noted its work regarding the property that was formally opened by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon late last month following an eightmonth fit-out.

The firm worked in partnership with the Scottish Government and main contractor Worksmart, with Graham + Sibbald having advised the latter around last year’s opening of Scotland House in London.

Scotland House Brussels is in the city’s European Quarter, spans 980 square metres and comprises open-plan working space for both the Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise, individual offices for ministers, conference space and meeting rooms, along with a communal hub space and desks for associated members.

Graham + Sibbald’s team, led by construction partner David Ross and senior building surveyor Scott Spittal, provided commercial property services in one of the firm’s largest contracts of the year to date.

Ross said Scotland House Brussels is a “cutting-edge work space fitting for what is Scotland’s main hub in Europe”, while managing partner Calum Campbell said the project “illustrates the ability of our team to tackle quite complex cross-border projects”. 0 ‘Cutting-edge’: Graham + Sibbald praises the workspace
