Airport access

-

Gordon Dewar, the chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, promises a great summer with new routes introduced, cementing its position as Scotland’s busiest airport.

Cementing more access roads would be a good start. The school holidays have not yet begun but trying to get home from the airport last week proved almost impossible. The trams were halted due to an accident, causing long queues at the bus stops serving the city centre and taxis were unable to return to pick up passengers because of roundabout gridlock.

At 5.15am on a weekday security lines were unacceptably long, causing undue stress to passengers who had ensured they were on time for their flight despite the outdated and inadequate access road system. I know of people who have missed flights after arriving in plenty of time but waited too long to clear security.

The summer holidays are upon us. Action is needed.
