-

Newtonmore secured a third successive cottages.com Mactavish Cup win, coming from behind to beat Kinlochshiel 2-1 at the Bught Park, writes Alasdair Bruce.

Keith Macrae put Shiel ahead from close range before Evan Menzies’ deflected 30-yard strike made it 1-1 at the break. Iain Robinson’s individual effort on 54 minutes proved decisive, giving Newtonmore a record 42nd triumph in this competition.

Kilmallie reached the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup quarter-finals with Michael Rodger (2), Stephen Mcalister and Innes Blackhall on target in a 4-0 win over Inveraray at The Canal Parks.

Doubles from Grant Irvine and Thomas Whyte helped Kyles Athletic beat Oban Celtic 8-0 in their Artemis Macaulay Cup quarter-final tie at Ganavan. Roddy Macdonald, Ross Macrae, Scott Macdonald and Robbie Macleod also scored.

Lovat spurned the chance to cut Kinlochshiel’s twopoint lead at the top of the Premiership when they lost 4-3 to Lochaber at Balgate. Marc Maclachlan’s goal and Greg Matheson’s brace were wiped out by Shaun Nicolson’s double and strikes from Pat Toal and Conor Sweeney to give Lochaber a shock win.

Michael Stokes’ winner gave Strathglass a 2-1 National Division victory over Glasgow Mid Argyll.
