Newtonmore the merrier with cup treble
Newtonmore secured a third successive cottages.com Mactavish Cup win, coming from behind to beat Kinlochshiel 2-1 at the Bught Park, writes Alasdair Bruce.
Keith Macrae put Shiel ahead from close range before Evan Menzies’ deflected 30-yard strike made it 1-1 at the break. Iain Robinson’s individual effort on 54 minutes proved decisive, giving Newtonmore a record 42nd triumph in this competition.

Lovat spurned the chance to cut Kinlochshiel’s twopoint lead at the top of the Premiership when they lost 4-3 to Lochaber at Balgate. Marc Maclachlan’s goal and Greg Matheson’s brace were wiped out by Shaun Nicolson’s double and strikes from Pat Toal and Conor Sweeney to give Lochaber a shock win.
Michael Stokes’ winner gave Strathglass a 2-1 National Division victory over Glasgow Mid Argyll.
