Gerrard eyes Roma’s Sadiq

Rangers are close to securing a season-long loan for Roma striker Umar Sadiq.

Roma are looking to send the 21-year-old Nigerian out for his fourth loan spell since joining the club. He netted five times in 12 games (six starts) at Dutch side NAC Breda in the second half of last season. Sadiq has also spent time at Torino and Bologna in the past two years.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is hopeful of having the deal done in time to have Sadiq join the squad at their pre-season training camp in Spain. If completed, it would be Rangers’ eighth summer signing.
