Do you know of a hidden gem in culinary excellence? Put them up for an award

As part of the Scotsman Food and Drink Awards 2018 we are seeking the nation’s favourite places

Our popular Food and Drink Awards, which will see Scotland’s top businesses and individuals – as nominated by you – vie for the top prize across 13 categories at a special event in Edinburgh, will once again look to celebrate all that’s great about this country’s culinary scene.

One of the most exciting of this year’s categories is the Hidden Gem award, which will see all of the businesses shortlisted narrowed down to a key list of 10 finalists.

Secret spots, creative locations, stunning views or quirky decor; whether you like them from the mystery they’re surrounded by or the innovative dishes they produce, we are looking for you to tell us about them.

The exceptional entries from those nominated which make the judge’s top list, will then be given back to the public, who will choose the final winner in a reader’s choice format. Last year, winners Loch Arthur Creamery and Farm shop impressed many of our readers, not only with their outstanding produce, but also on account of their incredible work with men and women with learning disabilities.

Their farm shop, which opened in 2012, includes a traditional butchery selling Loch Arthur meat, carefully sourced organic produce, including their own grown seasonal vegetables where available, and an artisan bakery producing fresh loaves, cakes and treats. Particular praise went to manager Barry Graham for his work in creating a “wonderful ethos focused on community, sustainability and creating a vibrant and supportive environment for people to work in”.

The awards ceremony will take place on 4 September, at the EICC. In a departure from the usual sit-down meal, the awards will have a Scottish Street food theme, giving finalists, guests and sponsors the opportunity to better connect on the night.

The deadline for entries is 23 July – you can nominate on our dedicated website https://www.scotsman.com/ foodanddrinkawards
