In a vote on Monday, the House of Commons voted 415 to 119 to approve plans to build a third runway at London’s Heathrow Airport. @Marcusfysh posted: “Pleased to have voted for capacity expansion at Heathrow which will benefit people and businesses in #somerset and the South West and signals that the UK is open for business with the world.” Councillor @Carolinerussell said: “Oh that is so grim. Heathrow third runway has a massive majority. Terrible for people living near Heathrow, awful for Londoners’ health and downright reckless in terms of climate change. So sorry to see this, but we will of course keep fighting.”

Speaking of which, Nicola Sturgeon announced big changes to her Cabinet as part of a reshuffle. @Anassarwar said: “After 2 years of relentlessly exposing SNP failures on health, Shona Robison is removed as Health Secretary. While this is a welcome change, the best gift on the 70th year of our NHS would be adequate funding and staffing. That is her successor’s real test.” @Elvishcostello joked: “Hearing ‘reliable rumour that John Swinney’s ringtone has been changed to Destiny’s Child - Survivor, and that Derek Mackay is hiding under a desk somewhere.” Councillor @Claidlaw tweeted: “SNP prove to be masters of spin by announcing the #educationbill is shelved same day as making huge fuss on the deckchairs being rearranged” @Agnewlaw added: “Sacking Robison isn’t the cure for an ailing NHS under SNP mismanagement... but it’s a start! #Reshuffle” @Marcogbiagi said: “If people tweeting about the #reshuffle can remember these are actual human beings – you know, *people* – with feelings and the rest of it, that’d make for a nicer twittersphere today, OK?” @Andrewbowiemp quipped: “Slight momentary panic in Westminster as #Reshuffle trends at 4 on Twitter... don’t worry... it’s the Scottish Government.” @Mrbarryjarvis said: “The way to tell the difference between real people and full time politicos is how much thought and how much they care about #reshuffle I don’t care who it is that does it so long as it’s done well.”
