Ex-sage chief is Ashtead chair

Equipment rental firm Ashtead has appointed Paul Walker, former chief executive of Sage Group, as its new chairman.

Walker will join the group as a non-executive before taking over from Chris Cole, who has been chairman since 2007, in September. Geoff Drabble, chief executive of Ashtead, said he was looking forward to working with Walker as the company continued to expand.
