U18s get free entry to summer racing

- By PETER ALLISON

Racecourses across Scotland will be offering free entry to under 18s this summer.

A range of free family-friendly activities will be running alongside all the horseracing action as part of Great British Racing’s Under 18s Race Free initiative, which has been created to highlight the fact young people can go racing for free at more than 200 racedays up and down the country over the summer months.

To support the initiative, Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams has teamed up with Great British Racing to create a series of comedy sketches, Horsing Around, that promote the fact that under 18s race free (17 and under at Musselburgh). Participating meetings in Scotland include: 8 July Ayr; 14 July Hamilton Park; 15 July Perth; 16 July Ayr; 24 July Musselburgh; 23 September Hamiltonparkand30september Musselburgh.

Meanwhile, it could be a very profitable day at Carlisle for Tim Easterby and David Allan, who look to hold a big chance in the AGMA Stablemate Carlisle Bell Handicap with Vive La Difference.

The four-year-old has really come to himself in recent weeks. In the first three on all five outings, it all just seems to have clicked, with his recent win at Hamilton his most impressive display to date.

That came off a mark of 76 and while he carries a 6lb penalty, the odds are he will be going up more than that.

Easterby and Allan also team up with Aasheq who looks up to defying top weight in the historic totesport.com Cumberland Plate Handicap.
