Rubbish moves
I couldn’t but see contradiction in Edinburgh City Council introducing a £25 annual charge for brown bin garden waste collections to save £1.3 million when reading that the Edinburgh Trams Inquiry has already cost £9m (your report, 25 June). Council taxpayers, business ones particularly, learned about the £776m incurred for the overbudget and long-delayed completion of our trams system, now made more embarrassing with a revelation that some facts got hidden from the council – but did councillors ask? Why change the garden waste collection from 3 to 2 weeks, or indeed, have collections at all in the three winter months if money is short?
