Hunger strike gets meeting for family
A family has been granted a meeting with Home Office officials after staging a hunger strike outside a Glasgow immigration centre. The Kamils, originally from Iraq, say they have been waiting 14 years for a decision about their legal status.
They want the Home Office to rule on their request for permanent residency, saying the uncertainty over their status was affecting their work and study plans. The family of six started a protest on Wednesday outside Home Office premises on Brand Street.
