Briton held in Portugal over rape allegation

A British holidaymaker has been arrested on the Algarve after alleging raping another tourist.

The 23-year-old suspect - said to have forced himself on a 17-year-old British woman - was held in the popular resort of Albufeira.

Two officers were allegedly injured as they tried to stop him in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The tourist accused of the sex attack is said to have forced himself on his alleged victim in the street after they left a bar in the famous Strip area near Oura Beach.

The teenager told police she had resisted but been unable to stop the older man raping her.
