Marketing consultancy targeting medium-sized firms looks to add staff

- By EMMA NEWLANDS

An Edinburgh-based marketing consultancy supporting growing businesses is looking to grow to a team of up to 12 within the next three years as it broadens it offering.

Futrsmpl was launched by Lucinda Bray in November, after working in both in-house and agency marketing teams.

She told The Scotsman that it has just clinched four new contracts, boosting its client base. These include working with Andrew Johnson on promoting corporate resilience and inspiration days Relax Change Create, and managing a rebrand for a start-up in Edinburgh that has just gained £750,000 in investment.

The consultancy is targeting medium-sized firms, with 50 to 250 staff and turnover of at least £6.5 million. “That’s where I can add the most value,” says Bray, who has worked with the likes of Red Bull, Tesco and Tui, and taken part in Royal Bank of Scotland’s Entrepreneur Accelerator.

As well as a target of ten to 12 staff within three years, she is also looking to within the next six to 12 months add two parttime workers.

Such growth plans come as she has been mulling the expansion of the firm’s offering from “keeping marketing simple” to “keeping business simple” and harnessing expertise that can help across an organisation. Areas of focus earmarked include strategy, finance and HR, and how they can all interconnect.

“Marketing for me is linked to all parts of the business and your brand should be focused from the inside out to make it work properly. Everything should be really simple to keep your business running and scaling as efficiently as possible,” said Bray. If a firm has a good culture, it wants to keep this as it scales “and to be able to filter that through different departments… sometimes it’s just having that external, objective view”, she added.
