Miller is new player-boss at Livingston
Kenny Miller will be unveiled as new playermanager at Livingston this afternoon after agreeing to a two-year deal.
The former Rangers striker has taken his time while assessing his options but has decided to take his first step in management at the newly-promoted Premiership club. He will be unveiled at the Tony Macaroni Arena today.
The 38-year-old will also keep playing in what is sure to be a challenging season for both he and his team.
Miller had concerns about the extent of Livingston’s ambitions after their surprise success in the promotion play-offs. He has now been satisfied on that front while accepting the club’s financial limitations.
He had offers to continue solely as a player from Aberdeen and St Mirren but the lure of being his own man convinced him to take over at Livingston.
His first competitive match in charge will be against Airdrieonians in the Betfred Cup a fortnight today.
He has not played since scoring in a 4-0 win for Rangers over Dundee in April. He was told to stay away by the club after a dressing-room row with manager Graeme Murty after a 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat by Celtic.
His first league match at Livingston is away at Celtic Park on 4 August.
