Doubles delight /O’mara makes his mark with maiden ATP Tour title

- TENNIS, PULL-OUT

Scotland’s Jonny O’mara and his partner Luke Bambridge of England claimed their maiden ATP Tour title with victory over fellow British pair Ken and Neal Skupski in the men’s doubles final at the Nature Valley International in Eastbourne yesterday.

O’mara, a Stirling University student from Arbroath, and Bambridge, both 23, had never won a match at ATP level prior to this week but, after beating top seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in the quarter-finals, they lifted the trophy thanks to a 7-5 6-4 triumph over the Skupski brothers.

It was a repeat of the result in the final of the Surbiton Challenger tournament earlier this month, which helped O’mara and Bambridge break into the world’s top 100 doubles rankings for the first time.
