Nine caught in crackdown on driving offences

-

Nine motorists are to be reported for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after being caught in a new crackdown in the Highlands and Islands over the weekend.

The incidents were recorded in the Easter Ross, Nairn, Orkney, Skye, Aviemore and Fort William areas.

Seven of those arrested were for drink-driving offences, while two were drug-related.

Road policing Inspector Neil Lumsden said: “To have nine drivers under the influence of drink or drugs in a single weekend is very disappointing,”
