UK defence minister Gavin Williamson was interrupted by iphone voice assistant Siri while making a statement to the Commons yesterday. @Nickirenewable posted: “Heckled by Siri – that’s a new one for the Commons!” @Akinunver pointed out: “A defence minister of a major power going around with a turned-on Siri is an Opsec nightmare.” @mrdavidboberesq asked: “British defence minister interrupted by Siri... surely there are security implications to having one’s phone in listening mode?” @jonnyevans_cw said: “Very funny. Though in my opinion Siri is a great deal more charismatic.” @Gavinwilliamson defended himself, tweeting: “One of the pitfalls of having a new iphone... I must ask my 13-year-old daughter how to use it!”
#TRUMPINSCOTLAND
The UK government has confirmed it would pay up to £5 million to cover the policing costs of any visit to Scotland by US president Donald Trump. @Kenny__stewart posted: “Can we not just pay Donald Trump the £5 million not to come to Scotland?” @Scottmc26175263 asked: “Treasury to cover policing cost of Trump visit to Scotland. So it IS ok to be part of the UK when it suits?” @Torcuil noted: “UK Gov to pick up £5m cost of policing Trump visit to Scotland. Effectively UK is paying to permanently secure Trump’s two private golf courses in Scotland. From now on Trump can fly in, even as ex-pres, and the security template will be in place.”
#SAMSUNGBUG
Samsung has warned that some of its devices are randomly sending photos to users’ contacts without their permission. @atharva_vaidya observed: “This is an infinite times worse than an exploding phone.” @nattgarun joked: “I don’t use a Samsung phone but if I did I’m sorry to everyone who may have received 100 photos of the Adriatic Sea and also our Hertz car rental agreements.” @iamdevloper posted: “Samsung make the Michael Bay of phones.” @tonysheps noted: “A bug affecting certain Samsung phones has seen contacts being sent random photos from the gallery. Can you imagine having to explain those screenshots? #awkward”
