Scotsman ‘tremendously excited’ to be appointed Asos chair
High profile Scots-born businessman Adam Crozier has been named as the new chairman for British online fashion firm Asos.
Crozier, originally from the Isle of Bute, will begin his role as chairman on 29 November, succeeding fellow Scotsman Brian Mcbride who was head of the board for six years.
Fifty-four-year-old Crozier has been chairman of Whitbread, the owner of Costa Coffee and Premier Inn, since February and also serves as a director at Vue International cinema group.
He was chief executive of the Royal Mail for seven years and more recently headed up ITV, leaving in June last year.
He said: “The Asos story is truly impressive and I am tremendously excited to become part of it.
“I’m greatly looking forward to working with the team that is building a global powerhouse in online fashion.”
Asos has posted strong halfyear results showing pre-tax profits were up 10 per cent for the six months to 28 February.
However, the firm recently suffered a shares slump fol- lowing an announcement in April to invest up to £250 million in improvements to support sales growth.
Outgoingchairmanmcbride said: “It has been a great honour and pleasure to have worked with Asos over these past six years and I wish the company continued success in being the world’s number one destination for fashionconscious 20-somethings.” 0 Adam Crozier: will become chairman later in the year
