No compensation for Kenya violence
More than 200 victims of tribal violence in Kenya have failed in a bid to seek compensation in England.
The victims were either working or living on a tea plantation near Kericho when violence broke out during a presidential election in 2007. They want to sue t he plantation’s parent firm Unilever in London. Victims say Unilever had a duty to take “effective steps” to protect them.
A High Court judge blocked their bid in 2017, and Court of Appeal judges have up held that ruling.
