Disgraced batsman David Warner has been appointed captain of the Winnipeg Hawks as he continues his comeback in the Global T20 Canada. Part of Warner’s punishment following the ball- tampering row was that he would never be considered for an Australia leadership position again. However, Warner, who was banned from international and domestic state cricket for 12 months by Cricket Australia, will replace the injured Dwayne Bravo at the head of the Hawks setup. Warner has made only six runs in three innings to date – his first competitive action in three months – but Hawks coach and former Pakistan paceman Waqar Younis is confident the 31- year- old will be up to the challenge of captaining the side. He said in quotes on BBC Sport: “He’s going to be a good leader. He’s a team man. He’s up front and he likes to give whatever his knowledge is. He’s always there.” SECOND T20 INTERNATIONAL ( HARARE) Zimbabwe 162- 4 ( S F Mire 94) v Pakistan 163- 3. Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 7 wkts.
