Blackford’s vow

-

Scotland’s independence day is “coming soon”, SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford has claimed during a bad-tempered Commons debate. Let’s have a referendum on the sovereign right of the Scottish people to determine the form of government “best suited to their needs”. The question being. “Should Holyrood be dissolved and Scotland revert back to the Scottish Office.” YES/NO.

Kia Tak We’ve already had that referendum. And the number of people voting for independence-minded parties at Holyrood even now still holds a majority. Even at Westminster, the reduced number of SNP seats at 35 is astonishingly high.

Optimist If the 2014 ref had been a straight ‘Holyrood or Westminster’ that hunk of junk at the end of the Royal Mile would be a JD Wetherspoons by now.

Sandie Despite Scotland not being at the World Cup, Blackford demonstrates that Scotland can still produce world class dribblers.

Ulcerating Soon Point of order. As one elected MP within the UK, even as leader of the SNP group, is Blackford entitled to use expressions like “speaking for the Scottish people”. I think not. The man is operating inside of his and the SNPS bubble, hoping to ratchet up support for their manufactured grievances.

Grigalach The vast majority of folk that know Scots and Scotland realise he is speaking for his own extremist minority SNP and not Scotland. He witters on about indy – everyone knows that was rejected by the vast majority of Scots.

Bertyfish Our independence day came in 2014, didn’t it? Was he living in a cave at the time?

Media One Voice “Acknowledge the sovereign right of the Scottish people to determine the form of government ‘best suited to their needs’.” Fine, let’s start with a vote on closing the Scottish Parliament.

Sheumais Blackford appears not to realise just how many of his fellow-scots are fed up to the eye teeth with this sort of nonsense. If he was ever to get his desire, another Indyref, a harsh reality would dawn.

Scotspat This time next year Scotland will be an Independent Nation. FACT!
