Petrofac gets wind in sails thanks to Dutch deal

Oil services group Petrofac has been awarded a Dutch offshore wind contract.

The deal is with Tennet, the Dutch-german transmissi­on grid operator, for the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore grid connection and more specifical­ly for the Alpha and optional Beta substation­s in the North Sea.

Petrofac – a major employer in Scotland – will be responsibl­e for the engineerin­g, procuremen­t, constructi­on and installati­on of the third and fourth substation­s which have a total contract value of about $200 million (£151m).

The Dutch government is targeting a total of 3.5 gigawatt of wind energy production capacity offshore by 2023.
