Burial for First World War sailor

A sailor from Aberdeen killed during the First World War has received a full military burial service in France after his remains were identified more than 100 years after his death.

Able Sea man James Robertson was 27 when he died in April 1917 during the capture of Gavrelle.

The human remains, and uniform shoulder titles, were found in 2016.

The Mod’s Joint Casualty and Compassion­ate Centre had two possible candidates, before DNA confirmati­on.
