Alcohol damage

-

The number of people being admitted to hospital with brain damage caused by alcohol has hit a new high in Scotland, it has emerged. Really? I thought the SNP’S minimum pricing was going to slash problem drinking, just as the pre-10am ban on alcohol sales and the bar on promotions before it was going to do? Perhaps issuing edicts like Trump doesn’t solve anything, and a fresh approach is needed?

As Frankie Boyle said: “Just think how much worse it would be if it wasn’t for all the heroin.”(and methadone).

Francis Mooney

If that is the case, then the SNP must pass a Holyrood law immediately to ban all forms of brain damage...

Minimum pricing will not make one iota of difference to those with addictions. Addicts crave alcohol and will get it by fair means or foul; they will steal from anyone, their own family, raid their children’s piggy banks in their desperation to get their next drink. The government have no understanding of the situation, they should be concentrating on building rehabs with trained staff.

Margaret Macphee

“Minimum unit pricing will save hundreds of lives”. At the moment this is simply a hypothesis. Let’s wait to see the evidence before making such assertions.

Personal non grata

Scots generally go into denial at any suggestion that there might be a national drink problem. That’s nothing new.
