All-square as plucky Scots held in finale

- By CRAIG MADDEN

Scotland were held to a 1-1 draw by the USA in the final Test match at Glasgow Green yesterday. The result left the series level after earlier victories to each side. The S cots had most of the possession and pressure but failed to turn that into goals.

Without teenage strikers Cameron Golden and Callum Mackenzie, both on Great Britain duty, and the injured Kenny Bain, the home side made the best of starts as Michael Bremner fired home a rebound from Alan Forsyth’s shot.

The Scots created several other chances in the first quarter but couldn’t take advantage.

The second quarter was a more even affair. The Scots best chance fell to Tim Atkins but his effort was deflected wide of goal. The Americans then levelled against the run of play with an opportunist strike from Aki Kaeppeler.
