First look at transformation of capital landmark
The marketing centre for a unique collection of new build and conversion properties has opened in Edinburgh.
Craighouse is the latest development from Quartermile Developments, renowned for its city centre mixed-use scheme Quartermile on the Meadows in Edinburgh which combined new blocks of apartments with the residential and commercial conversion of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The latest development is similar in that it is a mix of old and new in a prominent site in the city, bordering Morninside, Bruntsfield and Craiglockart.
Set in 52-acres of wood and parkland, Craighouse will offer a mix of new apartments, and homes that will be created in the substantial historic buildings.
Craighouse is home to many magnificent buildings, the oldest of which dates back to the 16th century and started life as a fine private house.
It was added to in the 19th century when a substantial hospital was built on the site, described as the most luxurious private psychiatric facility ever built in Britain.
