Enrolled nurses

Whilst I welcome the growing range of skills employed by our nursing staff, perhaps the time has come to consider bringing back state enrolled nurses.

From experience, these nurses were caring to a fault and often had time to employ more basic nursing skills than their “better educated” colleagues.

The role also gave many less academically qualified young people an opening to a caring profession which utilised their talents to the full.
