Balliemore Cup joy for Kilmallie

Kilmallie lifted shinty’s intermediate trophy, the Liberty British Aluminium Balliemore Cup, beating Glasgow Mid Argyll 3-2 in the final at An Aird. Calum Macdougall scored twice for Kilmallie with Innes Blackhall also netting. Calum Mclay and Garry Luke were on target for GMA.

Kilmallie also learnt their Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup semi-final opponents as Newtonmore defeated Kinlochshiel 4-2 in their quarter-final at Kirkton. Drew Macdonald, Glen Mackintosh’s brace and Michael Russell grabbed Newtonmore’s goals before late counters from Oliver and John Macrae.

Lovat drew level on points with Marine Harvest Premiership leaders Newtonmore and Kinlochshiel as substitute Lewis Tawse’s brace cancelled out Andrew Maccuish’s opener to secure a 2-1 win over Oban Camanachd.

Elsewhere, Kyles Athletic beat Caberfeidh 5-1, Lochaber drew 3-3 at Skye and Kingussie beat Glenurquhart 3-2 at Blairbeg.
