Man dies after fall on Highland mountain walk

A mountain walker has died after falling in the Highlands yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Carn Mor Dearg, near Fort William in Lochaber, at 12:35pm.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and the coastguard helicopter attended, but the 58-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said his relatives have been told.

A spokesman said: “A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”

Carn Mor Dearg, has an elevation of 1,223 metres.
