The government won crucial votes on Brexit on Monday by single figures. Many MPS voted against party lines. However, Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable and former leader Tim Farron declined to show up.
@Polhomeeditor posted: “Vince Cable and Tim Farron also missing from Brexit vote government only won by 3. Not good look for Lib Dems.”
Robert @Peston added: “One of great political jokes of our time is that @ theresa_may was rescued from defeat last night by the failure to vote of the current Libdem leader @ vincecable and predecessor
@timfarron.” @timfarron apologised, saying: “I was authorised to be absent from the vote last night for a prearranged engagement. Nobody expected the vote to be as close as it was. We clearly called it wrong, as did Labour, and I take full responsibility for my part – the Tories don’t deserve any luck.”
@vincecable stated: “We have led the fight against Brexit and we will now redouble our efforts.”

The chief executive of Creative Scotland has resigned following an on-going controversy over funding awards made by the arts quango.
@Henbell posted: “There is no question that Creative Scotland has lost the dressing room, and a change of faces is not the answer. Instead of top down leadership a more representative and democratic process that reflects the people and communities that make art. “I think there are great people at Creative Scotland but it is structured like a business whilst being underfunded and pushed to meet targets.”
@Jenniemacfie added: “Let us hope that, third time lucky, the next head of Creative Scotland has a firm grasp of our cultural landscape and the strength of character to heal the organisation, ditch the stranglehold of managerialism and adopt plain English, Scots and Gaelic instead of bureaucratspeak.”
@Harrygiles wrote: “Abolish the position of Chief Executive of Creative Scotland, cut executive salaries, reform the organisation, enable the people who just want to support artists to make art to do the work they want to do.”
