Robot revolution

-

It seemed positive, at first sight, to read that half a million new Scots jobs are expected from automation (Scotsman, 17 July).

I am more sceptical, however, of the claim that these jobs will cancel out jobs lost arising from the automation, as such jobs may be at the lower end of the skills level, which are more difficult to replace in any quantity.

The other thing to bear in mind is that the experiment with automatons in the Scottish cabinet over the last 11 years has not been a great success.

Perhaps a new programmer is required.
