● Dennis the Menace: The archetypal badly-behaved schoolboy, Dennis causes chaos wherever he goes, playing tricks on his family and friends.

● Minnie the Minx: Tomboy Minnie is more mischievou­s than her counterpar­t Dennis, but wears a similar red and black striped jersey.

● The Bash Street Kids: The pupils of class 2B of the Bash Street School are the stars of this comic strip, which features teachers in mortarboar­ds and gowns and wooden desks with inkwells.

● Roger the Dodger: The second longest running cartoon strip in the Beano after Dennis the Menace, Roger comes up with tricks and “dodges” to get out of things he doesn’t want to do.

● Lord Snooty: Appearing in the very first issue, Lord Snooty charted the life of Lord Marmaduke of Bunkerton. It was scrapped in 1991, but temporaril­y brought back in 2003.
