Scenes of destruction: Palestinians under attack at refugee camp
The exterior walls of a building have been sheared away at the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk, in the Syrian capital Damascus.
Yarmouk was once home to the largest concentration of Palestinians outside the territories, housing nearly 160,000 people.
The district has witnessed fighting between different insurgent groups as well as intense government bombardment and a tight siege that left residents on the verge of starvation.
Yarmouk was established in 1957 on an area of 2.11 square kilometres to accommodate refugees who were squatters.
