Glasgow is European HQ for global tech firm

A renewable energy software company has chosen Scotland as the base for its European headquarters.

Clir Renewables, based in Richmond, Canada, created its Glasgow branch following successful seed stage financing of around €1.4 million (£1.25m). The company, which provides optimisation and reporting software for renewable energy plants, plans to use its Scottish base to grow in the European market.

Craig Mccall, Clir’s director of Europe, said, “In the last year, the owners and operators of more than two gigawatts of projects have subscribed to Clir, including eight projects in the UK.

“We see great potential in the 170 gigawatts of wind assets across Europe, and so establishing a base to support our European clients was a natural progression.”

Founded in 2016, the firm has raised more than £3m funding in 2018 and supports global clients from offices in North America and now the UK.
