Forrester to join Iranian side Tractor

- By CRAIG FOWLER

Harry Forrester has agreed to join Iranian side Tractor Sazi after his contract at Rangers was terminated by mutual consent.

The attacking midfielder, signed by former manager Mark Warburton in January 2016, has not played for the Ibrox club for more than a year and spent last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon.

On Wednesday he agreed to tear up his Ibrox contract, which still had a year left to run, and yesterday he confirmed his move to Iran.

Tractor are managed by John Toshack, the former Real Madrid and Wales coach. Last season they finished tenth in the 16-team Persian Gulf Pro League.

Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard is unlikely to make a move for Blackpool’s Curtis Tilt. Reports this week claimed the Rangers manager was keen to sign the 26-year-old centre-back – even sending scouts to watch him in action during the Seasiders’ recent closed-door friendly clash with Burnley.

But while the former Wrexham and Telford stopper has been highlighted as a possible new recruit by Ibrox director of football Mark Allen, he is believed to be well down Gerrard’s wish list.

Millwall’s Jake Cooper is his number one choice as he looks to provide competition for summer signings Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic.
