Woman dies after tricycle hits tree

A woman has died after her Harley-davidson left the road and hit a tree.

Elizabeth Ewing was riding a motorised tricycle on Byres Road in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, when the collision happened at about 4:20pm on Thursday afternoon.

The 55-year-old, who lived locally, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where she died a short time later. Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to contact police. Police said a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
