Motorcycli­st who died in crash named

A motorcycli­st who died after a crash involving a car in Wester Ross has been named.

Police said James Stead was 50 and was from the Evanton area in Easter Ross. The incident happened at about 2:30pm on Thursday afternoon on the A835 just north of its junction with the A832 at Corrieshal­loch Gorge.

The black Triumph motorcycle and a burgundy Ford Fiesta collided on the route. Police Scotland closed the road for several hours to allow for an investigat­ion into the collision and have urged witnesses to contact them.
