UK marketing agency with Edinburgh hub partners with Australian firm

- By HANNAH BURLEY

A strategic marketing agency with hubs in Edinburgh, Manchester and Harrogate has announced a new partnership with an agency in Australia.

UK firm J44 has formed an alliance with Brisbane-based Conka, which it says will allow it to improve the strategic direction it provides to inter- national clients. Launched earlier this year by Kevin Murphy, Brian Sharp and Steve Yelland, J44 describes itself as having more than 75 years combined senior management experience in sectors including food and beverage, financial services, health care and automotive, with particular expertise in “re-working” underperforming brands.

Its current clients include a Tokyo-based drinks company, an internationally renowned whisky brand and a global financial services business.

Nicola Pickup, head of Australian agency Conka, had previously worked in senior roles with Triumph International and Mamas & Papas before launching Conka to specialise in the education and construction sectors.

Yelland said: “We launched J44 with a view to working with both new and established brands which have the ambition to grow internationally, and it is a logical next step to partner with young and talented agencies around the world.

“Both Kevin and I have previously worked with Nicola and we look forward to the quality of strategic thinking and creative insight which Conka will bring to projects.”

“I’m delighted that Conka and J44 are joining forces to provide a cohesive and truly international offer to global brands,” commented the Australian firm’s Pickup.

“We are growing quickly in our home territory and the thinking, principles and experience of J44 coupled with our own specialist knowledge will be of enormous benefit to clients.”
