Woman raped at shorefront

Police are investigating the rape of a woman on the shorefront in Saltcoats.

The24-year-oldwasattacked in Winton Circus in the North Ayrshire town shortly after midnight on Monday.

Officers are hunting for a man of medium height and build who was wearing a dark short-sleeved T-shirt and a dark baseball cap.

An appeal has also been made by police for any witnesses, particularly fishermen who are thought to have been using an area close to Winton Circus.
