Cambodia polls raise activists’ ire
Human rights groups have hit out at the lack of international concern over the election in Cambodia on Sunday which most neutral observers say is rigged.
Long-serving prime minister Hun Sen is expected to win easily as Cambodians will go to the polls on 29 July in an election that critics have called a one-horse race after the Supreme Court ruled to dissolve the main opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party last year.
“The response of the international community has been disappointing,” said John Cavanaugh, Cambodia country director for the National Democratic Institute.
