MP charged with perverting justice

Fiona Onasanya, the MP for Peterborough, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 12. Court records show she was charged over allegedly lying about who was behind the wheel of a speeding vehicle.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said: “Fiona Oluyinka Onasanya, 34, from Peterborough has been charged with one count of perverting the course of justice. She appeared at Westminster Magistrate’s Court on July 12 and is due to appear in court again on August 13.”
Ms Onasanya won the seat in 2017 by just 607 votes, defeating Stewart Jackson, who became an adviser to former Brexit secretary David Davis.
The Labour Party has not yet commented on the case.
