Glasgow organisation to advise G20 ‘ideas bank’
A community interest company focused on the contribution women’s enterprise makes to the Scottish economy has been appointed to the G20’s “ideas bank”, the latter’s only partner organisation from north of the Border.
Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES) is to advise Think20 (T20) on its gender economic equity workstream to support policy talks on improving women’s economic rights. WES representatives will attend the T20 summit in Buenos Aires in September.
Glasgow-based WES has also appointed Carolyn Currie as its chief executive, having joined in 2015 as chief operating officer.
She said: “The work delivered by WES continues to attract international attention and we are honoured to be joining the prestigious T20. We look forward to collaborating and playing our part in achieving greater economic empowerment for women in Scotland, the UK and throughout the world.”
WES chair Lynne Cadenhead hailed Currie as a global expert in women’s entrepreneurship.
