- By HANNAH BURLEY

Turing Fest, Edinburgh’s tech festival, has unveiled its lineup of guest speakers, featuring representatives from businesses such as Spotify, izettle and Monzo.

Organisers claim the event is “one of the fastest-growing tech conferences” in Europe, as they expect this year to bring its largest turnout yet, with 2,000 investors, founders, designers and executives from across the industry.

More than 50 speakers have now been confirmed, including product manager Amy Zima from music streaming service Spotify (previously product manager at Twitter) and Edgar Rouwenhorst, chief marketing officer at fintech firm izettle. It will also feature key talks from incoming chief technology officer at digital bank Monzo, Meri Williams, and the co-founder and chief strategy officer at software company Intercom, Des Traynor.

The conference is built around six core themes of the industry: product, engineering, strategy, growth, marketing and culture.

Brian Corcoran, CEO of Turing Fest, said: “Scotland has the potential to grow into one of Europe’s top tech ecosystems, and our mission is to help enable that.

“Turing Fest is already Scotland’s flagship tech event, both for showing the world what is happening here on the ground, and also attracting the best international talent, investors, and founders into the country.

“The fact that we run on the shoulderoftheedinburghfestival is a great bonus, especially for our international visitors — Turing Fest 2018 includes participants from more than 20 countries. We’ve got ambitious plans for the future, and we’re just getting started.”

The event was created in 2011 and promises two days of “insight and inspiration” as well as peer-to-peer networking for tech industry workers.

It takes place from 1-2 August at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
