Scots charity gives advice on avoiding conflict
A Scots charity has published advice to help families avoid conflict over the summer holidays.
The Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution set up by the Cyrenians has come up with five tips on avoiding arguments and conquering conflict, based on its new digital resource to tackle conflict.
Every year across Scotland, just over 4,000 young people become homeless due to family relationship breakdowns – according to Cyrenians it’s the biggest single cause of youth homelessness annually.
“We all know holidays can be fraught,” said Diane Marr, network development manager at Cyrenians’ Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution.
“Parents and young people can often wind each other up more than normalduringtheselongsummer months, leading to tensions within the home. With the hot weather and long summer causing temperatures to rise at home, we wanted to give parents, carers and young people some ways to avoid fights.”
The latest tips are based on free resources on the centre’s free online resource, the Emotional Homunculus and Brain’s Amazing Drugs Cabinet, which was launched earlier this year.
The package was developed by the charity over a 12-month period after research on conflict.
