Cup holders Newtonmore survive shootout to reach final

Kilmallie took Newtonmore all the way to a penalty shootout before the holders eventually won through to the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup final.

Ewen Fraser gave Newtonmore a 31st-minute lead but Calum Macdougall equalised on 58 minutes. Extratime couldn’t separate the sides and nerves played a part before Newtonmore captain Andy Mackintosh slammed home the tenth penalty to give ‘More a 2-1 shootout win.

Lovat beat Glenurquha­rt 5-0 at Blairbeg to go second in the Marine Harvest Premiershi­p. Greg Matheson and doubles from Marc Maclachlan and Lewis Tawse secured the win. Glen’s Ally Mackintosh was sent off.

Willie Neilson scored after just two minutes to give Oban Camanachd a 1-0 win over Kingussie at the Dell.

Lochaber pulled away from the relegation zone after beating Caberfeidh 5-2 at Spean Bridge.

Findlay Macdonald’s hat-trick, Ben Delaney and Ewan Pilcher’s own goal cancelled out efforts from Colin Maclennan and Jamie Matheson. Caberfeidh’s Liam Symonds was sent off.

Four-goal Calum Mclay gave Glasgow Mid Argyll a 4-1 Marine Harvest National Division win at Beauly.

Ross Macmillan also hit four as Oban Celtic overcame Strathglas­s 4-1, while Fraser Watt’s double and goals from Lewis Montgomery and Allan Macdonald helped Inveraray beat Inverness 4-1.
