Hibernian fans were celebrating after the Edinburgh club held off Greek side Asteras Tripolis in the second round of the Europa League qualifiers. It was the first time the Hibees have won through two rounds of European competition since 1973.

commented: “What a night last night. The European Tour continues. Sunshine on Leith reverberating through the streets when we got back to the hotel. Safe journey home to all”
@Agentscotland said: “Another very good week for Scottish football, Celtic, Hibs and Rangers all progress in Europe while Aberdeen fall in extra time after two pulsating draws with Burnley. Scottish football is on the up and we should spend more time highlighting positives in our game, be proud of it”
@anthonyabrown observed: “Hibs supporters not having it easy on this Europa run. Faroes, Tripoli, Molde all expensive/awkward to get to. Fair play to those making the trips. Many will be hoping for an English team next”
@Leeanndempster added: “Oh my word, what a 94 minutes of football that was. Absolutely terrific”

Royal Bank of Scotland is on course to pay its first dividend in ten years. The bank said it would be paying 2p a share as an interim dividend as soon as its £3.8bn settlement with the US Department of Justice over mortgage-backed securities was completed.
@Parcelgiants commented: “I just heard on the news RBS made £880 million profit and is going to pay its shareholders a dividend. When are they going to pay their debt back to the country, the money they were loaned during the financial crisis?”
@UCB added: “RBS is going to pay millions of pounds back to the @hmtreasury as it gives out its first shareholder dividend in a decade. Two-thirds of the £240 million pound pay-out will go to the exchequer”

observed: “The UK Government did not lose £2.1bn by selling RBS shares at half what they purchased them for. The government threw away £2.1bn of taxpayers’ (our) money by nationalising private debt”
