Contactless payments most popular for small purchases
UK adults are now more likely to use contactless payments than cash for purchases of £30 or under, a report has revealed - with the 35 to 54 age group most likely to opt to use the technology.
The research from Gocompare found 77 per cent of people have made a contactless payment in the past 12 months, with 19 million consumers saying it is their preferred method of payment for smaller purchases. Other methods of payment, including smartphones, key fobs and wearable technology such as watches, were used by 13 per cent of people. Three-quarters of people say convenience is the main reason for using contactless payments.
