Beyond exams

-

This week across Scotland thousands of the Scottish young people received their SQA results and I would like to congratulate all those who achieved the grades they were hoping for. I know that some will be disappointed but I would like to stress that there are many different avenues into further education, training and employment.

Exam results are only one part of a young person’s story. They aren’t the beginning and certainly not the end.

In over 400 Scottish communities, each Boys’ Brigade member continues to learn, grow and discover outwith

the classroom. Whether it be gaining youth awards, helping others , learning a new instrument or experiencing an outdoor challenge, these young people are developing essential life skills to prepare them for their journey ahead.

It is important that we all recognise and value the range of environments where learning takes place.
