Visitscotl­and appoints Morton Fraser to carry out legal work on portfolio

Morton Fraser, the law firm based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, has been appointed by Visitscotl­and to manage the legal requiremen­ts for its vast property portfolio.

The three-year deal includes commercial conveyanci­ng legal services for both the acquisitio­n and sale of Vis- itscotland properties, as well as litigation and other advisory services.

Amy Entwistle, lead property partner on Morton Fraser’s public sector team, which is one of the largest in Scotland, said: “Helping Visitscotl­and to ensure its properties are fit for the digital age and are economical­lyviableis­important.

“Tourism is Scotland’s fourth largest employer, contributi­ng £4 billion annually to the Scottish economy. We are proud to play a role in supporting Visitscotl­and with its properties, providing advice which takes into account its unique position in the country and vital role in sustaining economic growth.”

Ken Neilson, director of corporate services at Visitscotl­and, added: “Morton Fraser has a great deal of expertise in working with public sector organisati­ons and we’re delighted to be partnering with them again to manage our properties across Scotland.”

Morton Fraser’s other public sector clients include City of Edinburgh Council, the Ministry of Defence, the Scottish and UK government­s, Sepa and Aberdeen city and Aberdeensh­ire councils.

The firm, which employs more than 270 people, increased its revenues by 9 per cent year-on-year in its last financial period, topping the £20 million threshold for annual billings in 2017/18. It comes after five consecutiv­e years of “substantia­l” growth, during which the firm has become one of Scotland’s most prominent independen­t legal practices.
