Plockton is considered one of the most beautiful places in the UK. Sheltered by a headland from the wind and open sea, the small village sits at the mouth of Loch Carron, in Ross-shire.

There are unspoilt sandy beaches

on the seaward shore, reached by footpaths, and a maze of narrow lanes leading to forests, lochs, mountains and moors.

Plockton was developed as a herring port in the early 19th century and is now a haven for summer visitors.

It is also the star of the big and small screens – it was the location for the 1973 film The Wicker Man and the TV series Hamish Macbeth.

A beautifully appointed B-listed detached home in a stunning seafront location, set in colourful, landscaped gardens and enjoying far-reaching views, is on the market.

Thought to have been built in the 1820s, 26 Harbour Street has been renovated to an impressive specification.

Harbour Street has painted cottages, lines of palm trees on the waterfront and a backdrop of

wooded crags. The imposing cream coloured house is over three levels, with all of the front-facing rooms enjoying views over the harbour, and at the back there’s a landscaped garden.

It has four bedrooms, a dining room, sitting room, dining kitchen and three bathrooms.
