#EDINBURGHCOUNCIL

Ex-tory councillor Ashley Graczyk announced yesterday that she is set to the take the unlikely step of joining the SNP, in a move that will bolster the party’s depleted ranks on Edinburgh City Council.

@Catmackenzie7 commented: “It shouldn’t be underestimated just how bold it is to so publicly have a change of mind and heart on political and constitutional views, and explain it so eloquently. Major kudos to Cllr Graczyk. And welcome to the Yes movement.”

@moragfulton added: “This move from Cllr Graczyk is inspiring. What a strong woman who has reassessed her political beliefs and allegiances because of her principles and experiences. Welcome to the Yes family Ashley.”

@Profscottthinks observed: “I am not surprised that Councillor Ashley Graczyk chose not to move to the Labour Group as I know that from the Tory benches she opposed our progressive agenda.”

@frank_kerr offered: “The Yes campaign is a broad church and has room for all. Once we have achieved independence the people of Scotland will decide which party or parties will hold power. I welcome Cllr Graczyk in the same way that I welcomed Tasmina Sheikh and hope she will do as well for the cause.”

#CHIPS

The average portion of chips sold in Glasgow is 80 per cent larger than official guidance set out in 2002, new research has revealed. Obesity Action Scotland (OAS) visited 30 takeaway outlets in the city in May this year and found the average serving of chips to be a massive 380g.

@weetammyinspain said: “I think that’s down to the individual. I’m sure no one’s going to dictate to me how much chips I should be served.”

@Adammorrisedin observed: “A rare good news story.”

@fatcatsfriend added: “I suspect this problem is not limited to Glasgow. I can remember years ago when the price of potatoes soared and chippies understandably hiked the price of chips.”

@miss_vivienne commented: “Glasgow is now going to be mobbed by starving southerners wanting our chips.”

@philiplickley concluded: “I am definitely off to Glasgow the next time I fancy a chippy tea.”
